Victor was my grandmother's sister husband. My grandmother was a MacAdam. He painted many pictures of my father and his brothers on Round Island on the ST. Lawrence River. He did oils and charcoals. Some of the originals were lost when an old storage shed was cleaned out.

Leslie Ellis (02/11/2011)
The boy on the moonbeam was a cover for Ladies Home Journal, not Life. Also, NFS on a painting means "not for sale".

A little bit of info
Leslie Anderson Ellis (08/19/2010)
EMA was Victor's wife's initials-- Esther MacAdam Anderson, and he would credit her on some paintings when she would make a suggestion about perhaps changing something and then he would do it. NFS means not for sale. The boy sitting on the moonbeam was a cover for Life magazine. The painting Haying would have been from Altamont NY where VCA spent summers. Anything with St. Lawrence in title was painted in and around Clayton NY in the Thousand Islands, where he also summered. In winter they traveled to New Mexico and that is where the desert and goat paintings were done. Email me if you want to!

Brian Bandow (09/16/2009)
I have an original oil on canvas 20"x28". It has written on the back, Victor's name and White Plains address, also "NFS EMA". Any information on this would be appreciated.

Can anyone provide some insight about this painting. The painting is of 2 old people sitting on their porch watching the sun set.

Victor C Anderson painting
Patty Gardner (07/02/2009)
Hello, I found a posting online regarding painter named Victor C Anderson. I received a small oil painting from my second cousin, who was a NYC school teacher, who passed away in the I think the seventies. She had several small oil paintings. The one to which I am referring is a 10 X 14 oil on canvasboard. The title on the back is West Wind St Lawrence, Jade Green Water. The picture is signed Victor C Anderson, 195 Battle Street, White Plains, New York and is inscribed for Esther C Anderson. I believe Esther was related to my cousin, possibly a sister-in-law. Also noted in pencil is VCA, August 29, 1930. The picture is a soft pretty water scene. Any other information gladly appreciated.

Title of Painting: Haying
Debby Barton (05/22/2007)
I inherited my mother's painting by Victor Anderson entitled Haying. Would appreciate knowing when it was painted and any other information. All I know is that my grandparents bought in for my mother circa 1930's or 1940's.
